On this video we can see IIHS who shows Chevy Camaro, Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger crash tests from multiple angles.

IIHS tested the 2016 models of the Chevrolet Camaro, Dodge Challenger and Ford Mustang in the full battery of crashworthiness tests. The Mustang is the closest to earning TOP SAFETY PICK, right after it comes the Camaro who falls short in one category and lacks an available front crash prevention system. Last is the Challenger who is most in need of improvement.

On this list for TOP SAFETY PICK, cars must earn good ratings in the small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint evaluations. Have to have a basic-rated front crash prevention system. For qualification for the Institute’s highest award, TOP SAFETY PICK+, vehicles should earn good ratings in the five crashworthiness tests and an advanced or superior rating for front crash prevention.

These models with optional V-8 engines under the hood because they are the big sellers in their class, and consumers often ask how these Muscle Cars would perform in crash tests.

The Camaro, Challenger and Mustang win good ratings for the occupant protection in a moderate overlap front crash, also in side impact.

In the newest, hardest, toughest IIHS crashworthiness tests, the small overlap front test, the Camaro earns a good rating, the Mustang earns acceptable, and the Challenger is rated marginal.

Safest is Mustang and is just one rating away from earning TOP SAFETY PICK, Its small overlap rating is the one reason which holds it back.

The Dodge Challenger struggled in the small overlap test. Extensive occupant compartment intrusion limited survival space for the driver.

The footwell deformed around the dummy’s left foot, and technicians had to unbolt the dummy’s leg to free it from the wreckage.
